Our Lady's Boy's Club History

Founded in 1941 by Rev. Fr. L. Shiel who acted as spiritual director in the early years. Fr. Shiel OLBCHe was followed by Fr. Perrot in 1945 and in 1949 the club welcomed Fr. Michael McGrath.

In 1955, Our Lady's Boy's Club was officially affiliated to the Connacht Branch. In the club's first season, they reached the final of the minor cup beaten only by Ballinasloe. The Junior side came into their own in the second season 1956/57. Through the years the club has won many competitions and has seen many promotions as well.

2005 saw the 50th anniversary of the club. This was celebrated in style with a gala event at the Radisson Hotel.

The club goes from strength to strength in the 2008/2009 season with two strong junior league sides competing in divison 1A and division 2 as well as, an underage programme comprising of Mini Rugby for Boys and girls right up to an under 20's team.

Our Lady's Boys Club Rugby Football Club is a rugby club based in Galway City with rugby teams in junior league division 1a and 2. The rugby club also run underage rugby comprised of mini rugby teams under the age of 12 as well as underage rugby for over 12's right up to u20's. The rugby club had been in existence in Galway for over 50 years and has achived many honours and achievements at both club level as well as underage international caps.
